To become highly skilled at controlling your class you must do a few things. The primary thing is to be better at your own class and there is only one way of doing that - play it like you mean it. Log several quests until you know every spell that your class can do.
When you feel experienced ehough with your class it is time to study! Boring but oh so usefull. Knowing your enemies tricks better than they do is key to getting an advantage. When faced with a Druid that is familiar with all your abilities it comes down to who can counter the other player best.
In raids you do well to know your class to the fullest but also what and why the other classes are doing what they are doing. Listening to your class leader and most of all asking your class leader questions is a favourable technique of knowing your class to the fullest.
Highly important in raiding is communication and if you become good at that as a individual you will rapidly advance in your guild.
